About the Emerald Sanctuary

The Emerald Sanctuary is a showcase for the artistic pursuits of warped.net regulars on IRC. In some minds, this is long overdue, since there is so much more talent among us than you would expect.

The idea for The Emerald Sanctuary originated after I was reading some of buttons' poetry, after I had newly posted some of mine. I personally thought that it would be interesting to see them side by side on one site. And then I thought that why should I limit it to just us two? Let's let the whole network do it. (Please keep in mind that this is me trying to rationalize it. It's a little difficult to do, especially with the way my mind works.)

I approached buttons with the idea on Sunday, August 24, 1998. My response was enthusiastic, to say the least. And, after I checked to see if there was any interest among other regulars, I decided to go ahead with the project.

The original page was, unlike Rome, built in a day. This also included the addition and HTMLization of many works of poetry. On August 25, 1998, The Emerald Sanctuary was officially born.

The Emerald Sanctuary accepts submissions from any regular of irc.warped.net. It is the work of people who are not just going into chat rooms because they don't have a life. Every regular I have met yet on warped.net defies that description. And the poetry, prose, art, and music is no exception.
