We sit there
In silence
Awed by each other
But there is
Something we both
Want to say
But we are hesitant
To say it, as
We fear how we
Will harm each
Other by the spoken
Word. We know
Our friendship has
Become much more,
But we each wonder
If the other
Realizes that it has
And we ask
Ourselves if our
Friendship has truly
Blossomed into what
We think it has.
The silence overwhelms
Us, we wait for the
Other to say something,
Especially what we
Each want to hear,
Those fateful words,
The words that describe
What the other thinks
Of our friendship. We
Engage in idle chat
But only to buy time
To summon up the
Courage that we both
Seem to lack.
Perhaps we will
Speak what the
Other wants to hear,
Eventually, in time...
