The Emerald Sanctuary

Memoria Aeterna

At the shore's edge they stood,
There, togehter, hand in hand,
Watching the tide gently roll
Out under the dim, divine
Illumination of the
Moon and stars, and I heard him
Say to her: "Remember this
Always, associate it
With the declaration made
Just a few hours ago, for
I shall pass on sooner than
You will, but no matter what
Happens to me, we will have
This always, forever." And
She smiled: "Forever is quite
A long time, but the heart shall
Never forget, will it? Nor
Will the heart forget a rose
Given out of love." And she
Threw the rose out onto the
Sea, to be carried on the
Waves to preserve the moment.
