A sudden thundershower
Common to summers of the
American South, we had
Promised to watch one, sitting
Next to each other, and watch
One. We shall, if you still wish,
To watch the most peaceful of
Nature's vicious moods, stilling
What unrest there may be in
Our hearts and minds, cleansing us
Of our temporal, worldly
Responsibilities and
Cares, and, for those moments, we
Shall be together, knowing
Only of ourselves and the bond
We share, feeling the music of
Our affections, with the rain
Providing the underlying
Peaceful accompaniment.
