The Emerald Sanctuary

Mismanagement

The clock melts into the floor
and I hear myself screaming again,
wanting you here to return me
to my former state, listening to you
over the rim of a coffee cup

someone who won't make me die
when I can't complete the task myself

This morning is early and I can't resolve
myself to sleep, the words strong in my head
and hollering inside my mouth,
sings me to sleep not like a mother I remember
when I was a child

and the worls couldn't spin the way it does
nothing you can ever return to my hands
but I hear your voice and the world
isn't quite to noisy in my ears today,
over the rim of a coffee cup
I am screaming in my head for you to call me
and return me to my former state.
